EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS OF OPEN FIELD TOMATO PRODUCTION IN PUNJAB: A NON PARAMETRIC DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS APPROACH

 This study was designed to calculate production efficiency (technical, economic and allocative) determinants of inefficiency in open field tomato Punjab, Pakistan. Simple random sampling used for primary data collection from 70 farmers 2014. Data envelopment analysis explored the mean technical (79.4%), allocative (58.1%) (45.9%) efficiency. It showed capability 21.6 41.9% reduction inputs total cost, respectively with same output technology. For sub groups, (92.1%) more medium farmer while (74.2%) (63.8%) higher large farmer. Tobit model negative impact education, experience, extension services credit availability on inefficiency. Impact positive family size, area vegetable market distance.
